Southwater Village Hall Pre-School
General Information
Settling In
On arrival at pre-school, please wait outside until the doors are opened. The children greet each other on the mat and have registration. You are welcome to stay for this period if you feel it necessary, otherwise a member of staff will contact you if your child becomes distressed. You should never leave your child without saying goodbye. If another person will be collecting your child for you, would you please ensure the Supervisor is informed in writing prior to the pick-up. Your child will not be allowed to go without your authorisation.
The encourage independence, we ask for your child to be dressed in manageable clothing for him/herself. Pre-School children are not allowed to go to the toilet alone; a member of staff is always present. Pre-School Plus children may take themselves to the toilet.
Southwater Village Hall Pre-School follows West Sussex child protection procedures and information is availabe on the notice board. We ask that if your child has any bruising or other injury prior to attending a session, you inform a member of staff.
Comforters/Dummies/Toys
For reasons of hygiene, we do not allow dummies at pre-school. Comforters are also discouraged once children have settled (they can be used to help children settle in) as they might get lost amongst pre-school toys or picked up by other children. Toys should only be brought in if they are relevant to the weekly theme, and they must be named.
Themes
Activities are related to a weekly theme and children are encouraged to bring in something to show and talk about that is relevant to the theme. At the end of every term you are issued with a copy of the following term's themes. Please encourage your child to bring in something appropriate.
Additionally, half-termly plans are displayed on parent's notice board and weekly rotas are also always available for you to read and help you support your child's education.
Health
A child who is obviously unwell should not attend pre-school, especially if they have experienced sickness or diarrhoea. Would you please allow 48 hours for recovery before returning to pre-school. After an infectious illness a child should be excluded for the required time as stated in the West Sussex Guidelines on Infectious Diseases document. A copy is displayed on the noticeboard.
Please
inform us when your child is absent through illness. If your child goes down with chicken pox please notify pre-school IMMEDIATELY as a child attending pre-school at present could become very ill if they come into contact with an infectious child and do not receive medical attention within 72 hours.
Please
make sure that we are able to contact you should your child be taken ill at pre-school. If any of your contact details change, especially your mobile number, you must inform us immediately.
Please let the Manager or Supervisor know
if we should be aware of anything special concerning your child. Any information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
